Red Rock DeltaGraph 5.5 for the Mac Now Available for Mac OS X Panther Not Only Leveraging New Features in Mac OS X Panther, the Free Red Rock DeltaGraph 5.5 Mac Upgrade Provides Enhanced Usability and Presentation Capabilities for All Mac Users MACWORLD EXPO, San Francisco (January 7, 2004) - Red Rock Software today announced the immediate availability of Red Rock DeltaGraph™ 5.5, its powerful, award-winning, data analysis, charting and graphing software. The free upgrade provides several new advanced graphing, presentation and rendering capabilities for Mac OS X and Mac OS 9 users. In addition, the Red Rock DeltaGraph 5.5 upgrade is ready for Apple’s most recent Mac OS X v.10.3 Panther, making the most of the sophisticated features found in the new operating system. “ Apple has added some terrific features to Panther that can’t be found on any other platform. Our software takes advantage of this exclusive technology improving interoperability, visual presentation and overall usability of our charts and graphs,” said Craig Hopson, CEO at Red Rock Software. “And, while we have prepared Red Rock DeltaGraph 5.5 to benefit from the unique features of Panther, we have also addressed several issues for our Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X users. The result is a more robust application for all our Mac customers.” Red Rock DeltaGraph 5.5 takes advantage of several new Panther features that increase the application’s usability and presentation of its graphs and charts. The most obvious advantage is in Panther’s new Exposé. Exposé allows users to display all open windows as thumbnails, view all open windows of the application currently running, or hide all windows to quickly locate a file on the desktop. Coupling this technology with Red Rock DeltaGraph’s new ability to drag and drop data files (including text delimited and Microsoft Excel files) and images, creates a very efficient means for constructing, updating and viewing multiple charts and graphs. “ Panther is Apple's fourth major release in just three years offering breakthroughs in innovation, ease of use and reliability that won’t be seen in other operating systems for years,” said Ron Okamoto, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. “Red Rock DeltaGraph 5.5 allows Mac users to more efficiently use its analysis and charting capabilities while taking advantage of Panther’s amazing performance and features.” The ability to drag and drop charts and objects from Red Rock DeltaGraph to other applications is also a new feature in version 5.5. While each of the new drag and drop features are available to Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X users, only Panther users will enjoy the advantages of Exposé. Supplying richer presentation features for Mac OS X and Panther users, Red Rock DeltaGraph 5.5 now supports transparency for drawing elements. The new transparency tool in the tool palette provides users a way to add effects that not only appear in the charts they create, but are also maintained when exported to any image format except EPS or PICT. Those with Panther will also find Mac OS X soft drop shadows. These new shadows can be added to many charts and graphs and are maintained when exported to nearly any image format. For all Mac users, Red Rock DeltaGraph 5.5 offers additional image export types (including JPEG 2000) with quality settings that allow resolutions up to 1200 dpi. The user-accessible quality options for JPEG graphics and other image export formats provide increased control of image resolution and clarity - a great benefit for users transferring Red Rock DeltaGraph charts and graphs to other applications. Other key enhancements in Red Rock DeltaGraph 5.5 include: * PDF Import/Export –Add PDFimages into charts and export chart only PDFs. * Copy/Paste custom delimiteddata – Use “Paste Delimited” menu item to quickly add data. * Fully rendered text usingQuartz.
